    Live Interaction for Meiji University Business School

    Just finished the class of Live Interaction for Meiji University Business School.
    They did the final presentation in a big theatre as if they are in TED.

    The MBS students say they fully enjoyed the class and learned so much more than expected.

    To be a good interactor, how you use your language and how you deliver it is very important.

    Portia in The Merchant of Venice says;
    “Good sentences, and well pronounced.”

    As a Woman

    Finished a class of Live Interaction for a Women’s university.

    Evaluation is done by final presentation on women in the contemporary world, or how to interact in diversity world.

    They all did so well.

    We sometimes or always feel powerless to change the world.

    Portia of The Merchant of Venice is also.

    She is angry, restless, powerless to appear on the stage for the first time,

    “By my troth, Nerissa, my little body is a-weary of this great world.”

    Though she says weary, when playing this character, don’forget to keep strength in her.

    女性として生きていく

    昨日は英語で表現力を教えている大学の春学期が終わりました。

    花の女子大生です。

    私は生首みたいになってますが。。。

    女性として生きていくこと、または、国際コミュニケーションをテーマにした自由プレゼンテーションが最終発表の課題です。

    どの台本も素晴らしくて、シェイクスピアに挑戦した組もいくつかあったり、と大変意欲的かつ実り多い学びをしてくれたんだなあとしみじみ。

    ひとりの女性として、社会の枠組に押さえ込まれてはいられないエネルギーを持っている人と言えば、『ヴェニスの商人』の主人公ポーシャ。

    彼女の登場の台詞は、不満から始まります。

    “By my troth, Nerissa, my little body is a-weary of this great world.”

    「まったくもう、ネリッサ、この小さな身体は、この大きな世界の中でぐったりよ」

    どうあがいても自分の力では何も変えられない、そんな無力感を抱えているポーシャ。

    演じる時は、「ぐったり」と言いつつ、心の中に機会さえあればいつでも飛び出していける強力な熾火を抱えていましょう。

    I am now rehearsing The Merchant of a Venice as a melody drama.

    Bassanio tells to his best friend to Antonio the merchant of Venice that he is in love with such a girl.

    In Belmont is a lady richly left,

    And she is fair and fairer than that word

    Of wondrous virtues.

    For Bassanio, fortune, beauty, and virtue are equally important.

    恋に落ちるとしたら

    10月21日に山梨で上演する音楽劇『ヴェニスの商人』のプレ稽古をしています。

    誰かのことがとても好きになって、誰かにその人の良さを伝える時、どこを褒めますか？

    顔？

    髪の毛？

    性格？

    肌？

    喋り方？

    うなづき方？

    歩き方？

    ヴェニスの商人アントニオに借金を背負わせる元となった、親友のバッサニオは、恋に落ちたとき、その女性の、次の三点に惚れたようです。

    「ベルモントに莫大な遺産を相続したお嬢様がいらして、

    そのかたときたら、もうて素晴らしく、素晴らしくて、言葉に尽くせぬくらいなんだ、性格も何も。」

    In Belmont is a lady richly left,

    And she is fair and fairer than that word

    Of wondrous virtues.

    一に財産、二に外見、と思ったら、性格が素晴らしいというわけです。

    日本では、財産を気にするのははしたないようですが、バッサニオにとっては、親友にその人の素晴らしさをわかってもらうために、お金も貴重な価値だったのですね。

    演じるとき、バッサニオが金の亡者にならないように注意しましょう。
