入エジプト記８　太陽の舟とナイル川　Ex-Exodus 8 The Boat of the Sun

ギザの大ピラミッドの体内にひとりぼっちで入り込み、乗り移られそうになる前は、大発見の「太陽の舟」を見学していました。

ファラオが乗るのはこちら。↓
箱型の小屋の船尾寄りにあります。これに乗って冥界または The Other World へ赴くのだ。

太陽の舟は、ナイル川の上流から運ばれてきたようなかんじです。

The boat of the Sun is thought to be brought by Nile from its upstream.

ということは、ナイルは今よりもずっとピラミッドに近いところに来ていたのではないかしら。

Which means it must have come very near to the Pyramids.

そういえば、19世紀にイギリス人が撮影したピラミッド近辺の写真はたしかにナイルがすぐそばまで迫っています。

If you take a look at the photos taken in the 19th century, you definitely see the water close to the site.

砂漠の中に建てられた神秘、というよりも、ナイル河畔で季節行事の洪水に飲まれるギリギリの、緑に囲まれた土地に建てられたのかもしれないなあ、と思いました。

Maybe the Pyramids were not built in the middle of a desert but actually built in the wide green field by the Nile.
ナイルの洪水のリズムに合わせて上流から石を運んだり。

Then they could easily bring those huge stones from the upstream.

もしかしたら、実は、洪水はピラミッドの天辺くらいまで来ていて、洪水の季節に水がゆっくり増えていくのに合わせて、大きな石を水に浮かべて置いて行ったのじゃないかな、だから何十年もかけて建設する計画になったんじゃないのかな、とか、いろいろ考えるのは楽しい。

It is fun to think that the regular slow flooding each year might have covered even the top of the Pyramids, and that people only floated the stones on the slow flooding water level by level and season by season, and that people just calculated how many seasons they needed to build one pyramid.
