    The phrase “What light is light~” is used in the film Shakespeeare In Love.

    Valentine is orderd to leave Milan and not to see Silvia ever again.

    The banishment from love repeats in Romeo & Juliet.  Shakespeare must have been attracted by this theme so strongly.

    I would perform this just as simple and sincere as possible.

    Duke of Milan is on the way to trick Valentine.  Proteus has told Milan of Valentine’s fright plan with Milan’s daughter Silvia.  Milan is making a fake profession that he is in love with somebody and wants to get her, and asking for an advice from Valentine.

    I would play Milan who is really a good actor so that even the audience would believe him being in love with someone.

    Lucetta is a very skillful coach, isn’t she?  Her question makes Julia see her true wish.

    This is the first moment in Shakespearean plays that a female character decides to go “not like a woman”.  Rosalind, Viola, Portia, Jessica, Imogen follow.

    I would think how dangerous at that time to pretend other than your own status.  Julia needed a proper excuse (reason) to become “not like a woman”.  She has chosen it to protect her own chastity, which is fair enough.

    I would play this as a dreamy romantic girl, imagining herself alone in the beautiful nature.  

    The most important thing in acting this is to let the audience see the scenery as vivid as possible in their brain.  For that, I need to actually see the vivid scenery in my head.
