If and when you visit Kyoto, you may notice large red and/or white flowers on the road-side trees.
They are kinds of Camellia, called Sazanka.
The Japanese people used to love the flowers very much, for they are ever-green, and simply brighten up our winters.
There also are many songs featuring the flower.
This Sazanka is on the Philosophy Allay (Tetsugaku-No-Michi) near Ginkaku-ji Temple.
The words of the Red Saanka are
« Overcome Difficulties » ,
« Constant »,
« You are the most beautiful one. »
To whom will you give the flower to?
