I am a Jew. (Shylock)

After Shylock tells Antonio’s flesh will feed his revenge, he give thousands of evil deeds he suffers from Antonio.

“And what’s his reason? I am a Jew.”

Whenever I hear this line, I feel deeply sorry for Shylock.

Antonio himself is the reason why Shylock is so angry at him.

Shakespeare is not a racist, but Antonio is.
Shakespeare impeaches racists and Antonio is the symbol.

By the way, the line is beautifully written in iambic pentameter.

Read out with stress on the underlined words.

“And what’s his reason? I am a Jew.”

++ Live Interaction of the Day ++
Try to understand both Antonio and Shylock’s mind.
