Finally, Bassanio the nobleman of Venice arrived at portia’s estate.
Not only Portia but also all the other servants and waiting women seem to be waiting for his arrival.
So the messenger Stephano tells of his arrival thus;
“A day in April never came so sweet”
This is very Shakespeare.
You will imagine all the good things around April and it is so easy to imagine how Bassanio has arrived here.
It is neither a day of March, nor a day of May.
It must be April, mad and sweet April.
