Role-Play and Status Game

I taught the status work for young students of Japanese Teaching, at Jochi (Sophia) University in Tokyo.

All language teachers should be well aware that language is to make better life with other people.

Language is not to take scores in exams.

Language is to make friends, make business going in good relationship, make family happy.

Language is to speak both in voice and in body.

And the status games are very effective in teaching and learning languages.

Sometimes these games seem just for fun.

But when you are aware of the purpose why we are doing this, then theatrical exercises and games are soooo useful.

Fortunately, the students yesterday seemed to understand well and enjoyed theatrical exercises, knowing the purpose.

Though Gratiano of The Merchant of Venice says;

“We have not made good preparation.”

I think Sophia Uni students are preparing well.

Are using your language to make life better?
